Sarah Eaton - Academic Integrity in the Age of Artificial Intelligence

The event will be held on Zoom
Wednesday, May 14, 2025 - 15:00 to 16:30

Sarah Eaton - Academic Integrity in a Postplagiarism Era: Human Rights and Dignity as Foundations of Student Success in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.

As part of the university's reflections on AI, we invite all faculty, staff, and students to an online talk on Academic Integrity and artificial intelligence.

Professor Sarah Eaton will examine evidence-informed paradigms and methodologies for addressing plagiarism and academic integrity within contemporary educational contexts shaped by artificial intelligence. In this session Professor Eaton analyzes the intersection of ethical student conduct, human rights, and artificial intelligence. Participants will explore implementation strategies for academic integrity policies that respond to emerging technological challenges while preserving educational values.

Sarah Eaton is professor in the Werklund School of Education, University of Calgary, Canada, and honorary associate professor at Deakin University, Australia. She has become a leading voice in conversations about academic integrity (she is editor in chief of _The Journal of Academic Integrity_, and editor of _The Second Handbook of Academic Integrity_ among other volumes). We have asked her to share some of her work on AI in that context.
