Upcoming Migration to Teams Phone System

As announced in our Spring 2025 newsletter and in our August communication, we are transitioning our phone system to Microsoft Teams this fall. This change is designed to improve flexibility, accessibility, and integration across our communication tools.

What’s Changing

  • If you currently have a phone number assigned to you, you will keep it.
  • Your physical desk phone will be replaced by a new Calls tab in Microsoft Teams.
  • You’ll be able to make, receive, and transfer calls, check your call history, and access voicemail directly from Teams.
  • Your number will be available on all devices where Teams is installed, laptop, mobile, or browser, making it easy to stay connected while working remotely.
  • If your department has a shared number, you’ll be able to choose between your personal or departmental number when placing or receiving calls.

Migration Timeline

Already migrated: IT Services, Campus Services.
Tuesday October 14 (tentative date): Faculty (existing numbers only), Communications, Student Accounting Services, Health Office Administration.
Tuesday October 28 (tentative date): All other staff.

Presentation and Questions

We’ll host a presentation and Q&A session next week Wednesday September 24 at 1:00 PM (invitation to come) to walk you through the new system and answer any questions you may have. This session will be recorded, and a replay will be accessible.

Another Q&A session will be planned on Friday October 17 at 1:30 PM for people not able to attend the first one.
