THIS POST IS A REPUBLISHED VERSION OF AN EMAIL COMMUNICATION SENT BY AUP VICE PRESIDENT FOR SECURITY, OPERATIONS AND STUDENT SERVICES MARC MONTHEARD TO STUDENTS ON JANUARY 8, 2020, ABOUT THE TRANSIT STRIKE IN PARIS. IT IS PART OF OUR SAFETY & SECURITY BLOG THAT ROUNDS UP ALL THE LATEST NEWS AND UPDATES FOR OUR COMMUNITY.

The main trade unions that are against the government's project to reform the retirement pension scheme have called for demonstrations all over France.

In Paris, the main gathering will start from République. Demonstrators will gather there late morning for a departure time set for 13:30. They will then head towards Place Saint Augustin through boulevard Magenta, rue Lafayette and rue du Châteaudun.

As always, we urge you to avoid the areas around the demonstration.
