AUP at Home

New Challenges, New Opportunities

by Joseph Pearson

All over the world, universities are faced with the prospect of long-term remote learning in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. At AUP, we’re implementing online learning protocols to ensure that all our students can finish the semester, no matter where they are in the world.

For the health and safety of our community, and in line with directives from the French government, on-site classes have been canceled until further notice, and many students have chosen to return home to their families to finish the semester remotely.

We are, however, committed not only to making sure students can finish their studies through to the end of the semester, but also to bringing together the community to face these new challenges together.

AUP has a diverse, active community of students, staff, faculty, alumni, parents and friends. Students are busy learning how to interact with their classmates across physical borders as well as metaphorical ones; faculty are grappling with shifting learning resources online and holding office hours via videocall. Though it will be challenging, the move to remote learning will also bring new opportunities. Above all, it is an opportunity to showcase our solidarity and community spirit. It is also an opportunity to develop new ways of working together, to innovate and to acquire new skills.

One of the key ways in which this will all be made possible is through collaboration. That's why we're reaching out to the AUP community to help us build our digital campus. We’ll be working with offices and departments across the University to get their advice for adapting to remote learning and studying from home. We want to call on all voices within our community, to continue the global conversation that happens every day on our campus in a temporary digital community. Our suggestion box is always open, so don’t hesitate to reach out to communicationsataup.edu with your ideas about how to develop this blog or questions you’d like to see answered.

Don't hesitate to visit our digital lobby to start your exploration, or else browse our other blog posts to find useful work-from-home tips. Excited to see what remote learning has to offer?
