Gilets Jaunes Demonstrations Update to Students

This post is a republished version of an email communication sent by AUP Vice President for Security, Operations and Student Services Marc Montheard to current students on February 1, 2019, about the Gilets Jaunes demonstrations. It is part of our Safety & Security blog that rounds up all the latest news and updates for our community.

Dear Students,

Despite a lack of participation in the last act, “Act XII” of the yellow vest movement will nonetheless take place tomorrow, Saturday, 2 February. The group has so far announced that it will start at noon from Daumesnil in the 12th arrondissement and move towards République through Bastille (see below).

Some metro stops will be closed during the demonstration. For more detail see www.ratp.fr 24 hours in advance.

As always, please avoid areas where demonstrations are scheduled (see below) and remain vigilant as it is always possible that other areas may be temporarily impacted. For the moment other sites that have been identified as yellow vest meeting places include Hotel de Ville and Belleville.

Do not hesitate to be in touch with us if you have questions or concerns. More details about support are available in our other blog posts (see Message from President Schenck on January 17).

Stay safe and warm this weekend!
