Gilets Jaunes Demonstrations Update to Students

This post is a republished version of an email communication sent by AUP Vice President for Security, Operations and Student Services Marc Montheard to current students on February 7, 2019, about the Gilets Jaunes demonstrations. It is part of our Safety & Security blog that rounds up all the latest news and updates for our community.

Dear Students,

By now, you are probably getting used to receiving our weekly updates about the Yellow Vest movement. Looking ahead to this Saturday things are even less predictable than usual as several groups of demonstrators have decided not to inform the police of their gathering points and destination. We have been able to gather from online sources that one group will most likely meet on the Champs-Elysées starting at 9am; some have also called for action around the Interior Ministry, near the Elysées Palace. Should we receive more precise information before Saturday, we’ll be back in touch.

As always other areas might be impacted (République and Bastille , etc…) and we recommend that you tune in to the news in the morning, avoid the demonstrations and build an extra time for your commutes.

Stay safe and have a good weekend!
