International Journalism Institute

Anyone with a smartphone has the ability to report on the world around us using the technology and social media platforms found right in their pockets. Just because we can post a story, though, does not mean we know the best journalist practices for reporting it out. Our International Journalism Institute will coach you through the process of responding to breaking news around you, no matter where you are in the world. Over this intensive three-week course, you will learn how to navigate a foreign city in search of news, meet the professionals who work a foreign beat, and learn how to compile and file a multi-media story under time pressure. Whether you are an aspiring journalist, a concerned citizen, or just love telling stories, this course will teach you the practical and ethical skills you need to report on world events in the 21st century.

Reporting in the Digital Era

In an increasingly globalized world, the need is greater than ever for independent and resourceful reporters who can file stories from any location. Gone are the days when news organizations had foreign correspondents posted around the globe. In a freelance economy, news is increasingly covered by journalists who can react to breaking news anywhere, anytime; journalists who have the skills to think on their feet, gather information, find sources and file a story from any foreign location.
