Summer 2022: Health and Safety Policies

TRAVEL TO FRANCE

Valid as of April 22, 2022

The Ministry of the Interior frequently updates specific requirements for travel to France from different regions in the world. Please note that the color-coded classification system for countries and territories is subject to change. You can keep track of the classification system and travel restrictions here.

Definition of a “vaccinated traveler”:

The vaccination schedule is considered complete 28 days after receiving one dose of Janssen (Johnson and Johnson) vaccine, seven days after a second dose of other vaccines approved by the European Medicines Agency (namely Pfizer/Comirnaty, Moderna, AstraZeneca/Vaxzevria/Covishield) and, for persons who have received all the required doses of a WHO-licensed vaccine not approved by the European Medicines Agency, seven days after receiving an additional dose of an approved mRNA vaccine.

As of 1 February 2022, in order for their vaccination schedule to continue to be recognized as complete, persons aged 18 years or older wishing to enter French territory must have received a booster dose of messenger RNA vaccine no later than nine months after receiving the last mandatory dose.

For travel to France from a “Green Area,” :

  • No negative test on departure is required for vaccinated travelers. These travelers must present proof of this vaccination to the transport company and to the border control authorities.
  • Unvaccinated travelers must present a negative result of a PCR test less than 72 hours or an antigen test less than 48 hours before departure (departure of the first flight in the event of a connection), or a certificate of recovery (positive result of a PCR or antigen test carried out more than eleven days and less than six months previously. This certificate is only valid for a period of six months from the date of the examination or test).
  • No measures (tests, isolation) are in force upon arrival in metropolitan France.

For travel to France from an “Orange Area”:

  • Vaccinated persons do not need a compelling reason to enter metropolitan France. To enter, they must have received a dose of complementary messenger RNA vaccine no later than 9 months following the injection of the last required dose. They must also provide a sworn statement attesting to the absence of symptoms of covid-19 infection and contact with a confirmed case of Covid-19 to enter the metropolitan territory. The sworn statement is available for download here. No test is required to travel to mainland France from a country classified on the “orange” list for vaccinated travelers.
  • Unvaccinated persons travelling from an “orange” list country must justify the need for their trip by providing a compelling reason. Please be advised that travel for a short-term summer course is not considered a compelling reason to travel to France at this time. The travel certificate including a list of compelling reasons is available for download here.
  • Unvaccinated persons travelling from an “orange” list country must show the transport company and the border control authorities the negative result of a PCR test less than 72 hours or of an antigen test less than 48 hours before departure (departure from the first flight in the event of a connection). They must also provide a sworn statement attesting to the absence of symptoms of covid-19 infection and contact with a confirmed case of Covid-19 to enter the metropolitan territory. The sworn statement is available for download here. They may be screened upon arrival. If this screening is positive, they  will have to self-isolate, in accordance with the recommendations of the health insurance : https://www.ameli.fr/assure/covid-19/symptomes-gestes-barrieres-cas-contact-et-isolement/en-cas-de-test-positif-au-covid-19

Policies Governing Health and Safety at AUP

Valid as of April 22, 2022

AUP students will be expected to follow all French government health recommendations for preventive measures that inhibit the transmission of Covid-19 in addition to all applicable policies outlined below.

Staff responsible for university security (including members of the Leadership Team; the Director of Human Resources; and Phil von Eiff, the AUP Security Coordinator, and members of his team) will have the authority to refuse access to buildings or spaces to anyone who refuses to comply with AUP’s health policies.

Masks and Campus Access

  • Masks continue to be required in the Combes/Quai foyer for everyone present on campus without exception. Masks are optional in all other campus buildings.
  • Masks must cover the nose and mouth, and it is recommended that masks fit snugly under the chin and have two layers. Students are responsible for acquiring their own masks, but emergency supplies of disposable masks will be stored at the reception desks of all buildings in case of need.
  • Masks should only be used by one person and should not be shared.
  • Masks should be changed if they become wet or visibly soiled; a wet mask should not be worn for an extended period of time.
  • Hand sanitizer is supplied in dispensers at the entrances to buildings, in all classrooms, and in offices that receive visitors.

Offices, Classrooms and Common Areas

  • The policy of keeping all doors open wherever possible throughout campus remains in effect. If confidentiality requires that an office door be closed when a faculty member or staff member is meeting with a student, only the owner of the office should touch the inside door handle to close and open the door. In classrooms, where doors will likely need to be closed because of noise, the professor should be the person opening and closing the door.
  • The University will ensure the cleaning of common areas twice daily, paying special attention to doorknobs and railings, elevators and stairwells, and other commonly used areas.
  • Faculty, staff and students should open windows as often as possible, or leave them open if outside noise does not impede the work being accomplished in the classroom.
  • Fans must not be used when more than one person is present in the room.

Events

  • Large group events involving outside audiences continue to be prohibited on campus.
  • Events of over 25 people in appropriate rooms on campus are now permitted.
  • Food and drink are now permitted at all events, but participants still need to adhere to all safety protocols.
  • Any student-organized events will require advance approval from the Office of Student Leadership.

AMEX Café

  • Seating arrangements in the AMEX Café will return to the pre-Covid setup, allowing for more than two students at a table.
  • Access to the AMEX Café’s terrace has been restored.
