Daily Update on Campus Safety and Covid-19

THIS POST IS A REPUBLISHED VERSION OF AN EMAIL COMMUNICATION SENT BY AUP PRESIDENT CELESTE M. SCHENCK ON MARCH 3, 2020, ABOUT COVID-19 AND AUP'S RESPONSE. IT IS PART OF OUR SAFETY & SECURITY BLOG THAT ROUNDS UP ALL THE LATEST NEWS AND UPDATES FOR OUR COMMUNITY.

Here is today’s update regarding AUP’s response to the spread of Covid-19 in France. The AUP community continues to show immense solidarity in responding to the evolving situation and I am especially grateful for the positive feedback we have received from parents.  We know this is a stressful time and we appreciate your support.

Staff across the University are working with all students who were asked to self-quarantine to ensure their well-being throughout this period, and with faculty to ensure that students’ academic work can continue as normal. Students in self-quarantine are excused from attending classes, but are expected to continue academic work from a distance.

Every student in self-quarantine has been assigned a guidance counselor throughout the quarantine period. Any student, regardless of quarantine, who exhibits the following symptoms – coughing, sneezing, runny nose, sore throat, shortness of breath or fever – should immediately check in with International SOS (01 55 63 36 35) and the AUP Health Office (01 40 62 05 77 or healthataup.edu).

A reminder that, until further notice, AUP events will be closed to the public; AUP staff, faculty and students will need to access campus using their AUP ID cards in order to attend events. Decisions about whether or not previously scheduled events are going ahead are being made on a case-by-case basis.

If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to reach out to AUP’s Parent Relations Manager, Dana Callaghan at parentsataup.edu. Thank you once again for your cooperation and support; I am immensely proud of our community’s spirit in the face of exceptional times.
